Monica Galetti

Monica Galetti is a Samoan-born New Zealand renowned chef, television personality, and author who has made a significant impact on the culinary world. She rose to prominence as a senior sous-chef at the prestigious two-Michelin-starred restaurant Le Gavroche in London, where she worked under the mentorship of Michel Roux Jr. Monica's expertise and charisma led to her becoming a familiar face on television as a judge on the popular BBC series "MasterChef: The Professionals," starting in 2009. Her television career expanded with her hosting the BBC series "Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby," showcasing her deep knowledge and passion for the hospitality industry.

In addition to her television work, Monica is the proprietor of Mere, a celebrated restaurant in London, which she opened with her husband, David Galetti, in 2017. The restaurant reflects her culinary journey and features a blend of French and South Pacific influences. Monica is also an accomplished author, with her cookbook "Monica's Kitchen" offering insights into her culinary style and philosophy. Her achievements have been recognised with numerous awards and titles, in particular sitting as a judge on The Platinum Pudding Competition - a nationwide baking competition by Buckingham Palace, Fortnum & Mason and The Big Jubilee Lunch to find a new pudding marking the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II.

In March 2023, Galetti announced she would be returning as a judge on the BBC series “MasterChef: The Professionals.” She is celebrated for her mentorship and advocacy for diversity in the culinary world. Galetti continues to inspire many with her dedication, skill and passion for the culinary arts.
